Scandinavian Internationals 2012, Tierp Arena

August 23-26, 5th round of FIA European Drag Racing Championship

Before this race we had to send the crankshaft to Electronic Chrome & Grinding in USA for chrome plating of rear main and check of straightness. That was one of the reasons that we couldn’t participate at the Hockenheim race. We also did a lot of maintenance on the trailer with a lot of help from our very good sponsor Svenssons Åkeri.
Qulifications started on Friday a shutdown after burnout because of low oil pressure. In the second round on Friday we qualified with 6,75 s run after that burst panels blew at 200 m. With a lot of help from Arvid Grödems team we could repair the body that had been damaged when burst panels blew. We could provide Grödem with a camshaft.
On Saturday we had lot of VIP and Priority guests from Sandvik Coromant, Tools and Xdin/Vattenfall. The weather was perfect and we could show the car and give them hospitality. In third qulification round we could not close the body at the start line with engine running (hook had been hurt when burst panels blew). So, back to the pit and fix that and out for the last qualification round. Burst panels again……but this time at 300 m. We got qualified number 4 with 6,24 s run. We found the root cause to burst panels and could fix that for Sunday eliminations where we should meet Danny Bellio from Belgium.
In the quarterfinal against Bellio on Sunday we were ahead of them when a connector in the Safety shut-off system broke. So the system was activated and the car stopped and I could see Bellio rushing ahead…
However we considered the weekend as learning and we solved problems that occured. Now we have to secure that they don’t repeat. We have sorted out a lot about the car and driving this year.
We had decided earlier not to go England for the Finals (6th round) in the beginning of September. Summarizing after that race we eneded up as number 7 in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship.
So we will have start number TMFC 7 next year.
